Baildon Runners Awards Ceremony and Christmas Party 2017

Prizes, pints and pretty awful dance moves... all were in plentiful supply on Friday evening at the annual Christmas party and awards ceremony. An inspirational speech was delivered by Sam Boatwright, who in 2012, ran 50 miles everyday for 50 days (2500 miles) round the UK raising money for Help for Heroes. The club has donated £144 profit raised on the raffle to the cause in support of Sam and the charity.

The Summer Championship Premier Division was won by Mark Delaney, the 1st Division won by John Buddle and the 2nd Division won by Tara Phillips. The Overall Summer Champs winner was John Buddle.

In regards to performance awards, best newcomer was awarded to Jeff Singleton, and the most improved to John Buddle.

Outstanding performance was awarded to Jim Wheldon who has come 2nd in the English Fell Championship (M65), and set a club record for his age group at the Tadcaster 10.

The Dave Turpin award was won by Denise Johnson for her huge ongoing contribution to the club. A new award was up for grabs on the night which was named in memory of Peter Kassapian. This was awarded to Jo Milsom who helped to resuscitate a fellow runner whilst racing.
