About us…

Baildon Runners was formed in 1984 by a group of like minded joggers who enjoyed social running.  In the early days the emphasis was more on the social side of running.  Today we have around 250 adult members, enabling us to become effective challengers in local and national competitions.  We find that we are able to balance the more competitive side of running whilst still maintaining a fun social atmosphere within the club.

A warm welcome to all…

At Baildon Runners we pride ourselves on giving a warm and friendly welcome to all newcomers.  Everyone from complete beginners to experienced runners is equally welcome.  We believe there is something for everyone at the club.

When and where…

We are based at the Baildon Rugby & Cricket Sports Club on Heygate Lane, off Jenny Lane, where we meet each Thursday evening at 7:00pm.  This is our main club night.  During the winter months we stick to well-lit pavement routes but at other times, when the light permits, we head ‘off road’ often across the scenic Baildon Moor.  The routes are planned so we all meet back at the Sports Club at approximately the same time.  Showers are available in the Cricket Pavilion and afterwards we unwind with a few drinks and food in the Sports Club bar.

We also meet on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings - please see our 'RUN' page for further details of those sessions.

Come and try us out for free for a few sessions and see how you like us.

What’s in it for me?…

Lots of things.  For starters, the opportunity to train with a group of friendly people who will help and encourage you along the way whatever your level of fitness.  If you want to compete in races, there are ample opportunities to enter team events and represent Baildon Runners.  Our qualified coaches will be pleased to offer you practical advice and support whatever standard of fitness you have or wish to achieve.  And we have the moor on our doorstep offering the best scenery and views in the area!

The club is affiliated to England Athletics, which means as a member you can save money on race entry fees and receive further discounts.

Our newsletter is free to all members and keeps you in touch with forthcoming events and races as well as results, discount codes and topical articles from other members.

What’s the cost?…

Our annual subscription for 2024/25 is £28 covering 1 April to 31 March. If you join between 1 October and 31 March the cost is £24.  Newcomers are welcome to attend up to four training sessions free of charge whilst ‘trying us out’ - but we are sure you will love us straight away.  Don't forget, members receive discounts on race entries!

Unlike some other clubs there are no other ‘training fees’ to be paid, regardless of how many sessions you attend. Changing and showering facilities are provided at no additional cost on Thursday club nights.

Already a member of another club?  Second Claim Membership is just £11.

Want to keep involved but not run?  Social Membership only costs £7.  Great to support your club and stay in touch.

We don't have a junior membership; other local clubs have existing programmes for under 18s.

Let’s party…

OK, it’s not all about running.  We like to ‘let our hair down’ from time to time and we have a variety of social events which take place throughout the year, culminating in our Christmas party which is held at a local venue.  This is a very popular event and is open to members and their guests.

Still interested?…

You are very welcome to come along to any of our training sessions and try us out without any obligation.  We’re sure you’ll like us!

You will need an email address to register for membership and will be automatically included in our monthly newsletter and regular club communications.  We use MemberMojo to securely manage our membership (opens in a new window).
